Model of a ladder with seven steps that was found in 1957 at the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in fragments, was pieced together and restored.

Iconographically, the ladder is related with nuptial ceremonies or Aphrodite Ourania, protectress of marriage. It symbolises the actual ladder that the newlyweds had to climb to get to the upper floor of the house where the wedding chamber was located, but also the allegorical ascend of the bride from her single status to that of a married woman. However, it can also be associated with the ladder Athenian women used during the Adonia festival, in order to carry pots with new shoots and place them on the rooftops.
